BEAUTIFUL LAKES

Due to abundant rainfall, the area is surrounded by 50 over beautiful lakes. These lakes are perfect for swimming, water sports and for relaxation. With so many lakes to choose from, it is always easy to get away from crowded lakes and find more quiet spots. Many dams have also been built in the Harz area.

To cope with the abundant rainfall, many dams have been built. Not only are they built for flood prevention, they play other important roles such as providing electricity through hydro power and water supply. The following are notable dams in the Harz region:
